We are teaching Rueda at Z-land dance studio in Haiku.

Friday Nights 7:00 to 9:00pm with a donation of $5.

  7:00 Level 1 class
   This is for persons who ALREADY know how to dance the basics of Salsa including dancing to the beat and at least the “cross body lead”. This is NOT a good time for me to try to teach an absolute beginner since it is unfair to the other students and is rarely successful. NO man in our rueda group has ever learned that way, they all had learned to dance Salsa first. Women generally have an easier time since following is inherently MUCH easier to learn.
    If someone wants to join us, they need to learn the basics first, either at a beginners class such as taught by Lasensua on Mondays or with private lessons which I offer at a reasonable cost. For those who think they are ready, they can join us after demonstrating their ability to me at 7:00 sharp.
  
7:30 Level 2 class
   This is for dancers who have mastered the moves of Level 1 sufficiently to be ready to learn intermediate moves without holding the rest of the students back. We usually dance the Level 2 moves to music and then review and teach moves. For someone who is just entering this level it is best to join us at the teaching/review period without music and when you are sufficiently able then join in the dancing. If you are a leader and a call is made for a move that you do not know it is better to continue doing the basic and watch rather than try to fake it and get out of beat.




8:00 Advanced level 2
   We will dance level 2 and level 1 moves at a faster pace and without instruction for those dancers who ALREADY know most of the level 2 moves. If you are in doubt about this ask me or one of the advanced dancers such as Don or Denise or Eleykaa. We will also be selective in who we believe are ready for this. Please respect our judgement and sit out if asked. It is necessary for the more advanced dancers to have a time to dance with others at our skill level if we are to continue having interest in the dance.

8:30 Level 3
   We will teach level 3 moves for anyone who is able to learn them, subject to the teacher’s descretion and dance the moves that are taught that week.

8:45 Advanced level 3
    This time is for those advanced dancers in the core group who know most of the level 3 moves to dance them with no or minimal instruction. This group is by invitation only and may vary from week to week depending on who is present and the balance of leaders and followers. Please respect our judgement on who we invite that week. This is a very difficult call to make and I would ask that you make it easier by not questioning it.
